A Great Outing for Kids, Grandkids and Those...

...who never grew up and still feel like kids: the Hendersonville historic train depot...

When I took my son and his oldest daughter to the 100 year-old train depot at the corner of 7th Ave. and Maple Street in Hendersonville, NC, all three generations enjoyed it immensely.

The Historic Seventh Avenue Business District, the Apple Valley Model Railroad Club and the city of Hendersonville worked together and renovated the building several years ago. The result is a wonderful treasure for both local residents and tourists. Inside there are rooms filled with some of the most detailed model railroads I've ever seen...

The train depot and railway club is open to the public every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free.  (Donations are accepted.)

The beautiful, full-size Southern Railway red caboose on the track outside (next to the train depot) is also open to the public on Saturdays...
